Why Lucknow students look beyond hostel mess
Every year, thousands of students move to North Lucknow for engineering, management, and medical degrees at IET (Institute of Engineering & Technology), Integral University (Kursi Road), Lucknow University Second Campus (Jankipuram), and BBD University (Faizabad Road).
Within two months, the common complaint is the same:
**Sunday mess shutdown** — most hostel and private PG messes in Lucknow close Sunday lunch and dinner.
**Watery dal and repeating potatoes** — mass cooking for 300+ students cuts nutrition and taste.
**Food delivery burnout** — ordering on food apps daily costs ₹200–₹350 per meal (₹6,000–₹9,000 extra per month), resulting in acidity and drained pockets.
A dedicated home-style tiffin subscription solves this completely. Here is an honest breakdown of student tiffin costs, reviews, and delivery schedules across Lucknow college belts.
Student Tiffin Cost vs Mess vs Delivery Apps in Lucknow
| Meal Source | Monthly Cost | Per Meal | Quality & Health | Delivery to Gate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| College / PG Mess | ₹3,000–₹4,200 | ~₹50–₹70 | Low-to-average, repetitive, oil reused | In-campus only |
| Food Apps (Daily) | ₹6,500–₹9,000 | ₹220–₹300 | High oil, restaurant spices, acidity | Gate drop (+delivery fee) |
| **The Taste of Home Student Plan** | **₹2,099** | **₹69** | **Pure veg, desi cow ghee rotis, fresh daily sabzi** | **Free gate drop before 1:30 PM** |
| Lunch + Dinner Student Combo | **₹4,199** | **₹69** | **Two full wholesome home-cooked meals every day** | **Free gate drop twice daily** |
